part time groover and full time dreamer! Seriously cats, I started in the rag trade at 14, working for Shlomo Weinberger. He taught me enough for me to open my first boutique at the age of 19. I called it the Jean Genie and it all started from there. Out of all the framed artwork and *objets* that grace the wall of my drawing room my eyes always linger the longest on a cutting from the March '73 issue of Biba magazine. It shows me standing outside the Jean Genie. Above me is the headline "Denim Guru. Is it You?". That was the start of something special. It's been a groovy trip! Who knows what the rest of the 20th century will bring. I write this little piece in November 1976 fresh from consulting Jonny Briggs who is a hot new face in Coronation Street and a star in the making along with Helen Worth and Cheryl Murray. I'm looking forward to sharing the highs and highs! of my life with you. Must go as I'm due at the premiere of The World is full of Married Men. No doubt I'll be propping up the bar with "man about the house" Dicky O'Sullivan and "The Sweets" blonde darlin' Brian Connolly. I'll let you know how it went "nurse the andrews liver salts"!!!! Keep on groovin'
